Mr. Nguyen Nhat Ninh, Director of the Centre for Safe Water and Environmental Sanitation of the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong, stated nearly 600,000 rural residents in the province have safe water, accounting for 76.5% of the rural population.
The result was brought about by the investment from the national program on safe water and rural environmental sanitation. In 2012 alone, the program has poured over VND7 billion in investment.
The provincial Centre for Safe Water and Environmental Sanitation is managing and exploiting 37 concentrated water constructions of which 100% are operating efficiently.
Priority in allocating the constructions has been given to extremely disadvantaged communes, ethnic minority people-inhabited communes or newly built regions where people meet difficulties in environmental sanitation, contributing to poverty reduction and people’s resettlement./.
