    Vietnam participates in ASEAN primary school sport Olympiad

    Twenty-six Vietnamese kids are taking part in the ASEAN Primary School Sport Olympiad (APSSO) 2009 being held in Jakarta, Indonesia, from November 3rd to 8th.

    They are competing in football, table-tennis, chess, badminton and track-and-field.

    The ASEAN primary school sport Olympiad (APSSO) is an annual sport event organised by the Indonesian Edaucation Ministry for primary school students of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) members in a bid to develop sporting talent at an early age. a

    APSSO was held for the first time in 2007 with the participation of eight ASEAN nations. Vietnam ranked second after Indonesia with five golds, two silvers and two bronzes.

    However, the Vietnamese team dropped to third place after Indonesia and Malaysia with three golds, three silvers and five bronzes at the APSSO 2008 which was attended by nine ASEAN nations.

    During APSSO 2009, apart from competition, kids will participate in many other activities such as visiting tourist areas and enjoying cultural performances.
